Guest Spotlight

Rodney is a father of three, minister and barber. He is a fan of old school cars (still owning his first) and an avid sports and movie watcher. Rodney's journey is a testament to resilience and the power of faith and community support. He was diagnosed in September with squamous cell carcinoma in the voice box. He said he was hoarse for a year, but then the pain became severe and unbearable. Despite facing a daunting diagnosis, he remains steadfast in his determination to persevere. His faith in God and the love of his family and friends serve as guiding lights through his darkest moments.

It's heartening to hear that Rodney's current treatment is yielding positive results, especially after the challenges he faced during his first round of radiation. The fact that he can now eat and is gaining weight signifies significant progress in his healing journey. Clear CT scans are also encouraging news, indicating that the treatment is effectively targeting the cancer.

Home for Healing has played a crucial role in Rodney's healing process, providing him with a supportive environment where he feels like part of a family. The genuine care and compassion he has received here has undoubtedly contributed to his overall well-being and sense of gratitude.

Rodney's determination to "keep it moving" despite the obstacles he faces is truly inspiring. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of faith, resilience, and the support of loved ones in navigating life's toughest challenges.

Words from our Director

As we embrace the beauty of spring, I am delighted to share with you the latest updates and reflections from Home for Healing.  As always, feel free to stop by the home to enjoy our Serenity Garden, which is managed by the Pulaski County Master Gardeners.

Firstly, I want to extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff members who continue demonstrating unwavering commitment and compassion in their care for our guests. Your tireless efforts are the foundation of our community, and it is through your dedication that we can provide a nurturing and supportive environment for all who call our home their own.

To our guests and their caregivers, I want to express my admiration for your resilience and strength. Your journey towards healing is not always easy, but it is a journey that we are honored to walk alongside you. Together, we celebrate every milestone, no matter how small, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Furthermore, I am thrilled to introduce our new community garden initiative. This project serves as a therapeutic outlet for our residents and fosters a sense of connection to nature and community. Whether you have a green thumb or simply enjoy the tranquility of outdoor spaces, I encourage everyone interested in participating in this exciting endeavor to contact me!
