Callie’s path to motherhood took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn when she went into labor at just 21 weeks and 5 days while at work. Doctors told her there was little hope and advised letting her baby go. But Callie’s faith was unshakable. She chose to fight for her baby girl.
On December 24, after unimaginable pain and uncertainty, Callie welcomed Kimber Dawn, weighing only 13.8 ounces and measuring 10.8 inches long. It would be a whole month before Callie could finally hold her tiny warrior.
Just three weeks later, Kimber faced another life-threatening battle. Doctors warned Callie that survival was unlikely and even if she did survive, life would be incredibly hard. But Callie never stopped believing. She prayed, hoped, and trusted.
Today, 150 days later, Kimber is still fighting! Callie’s greatest hope is that one day her daughter will be healthy, whole, and happy.
Through it all, Callie is deeply grateful for Home for Healing. After months of hospital nights, having a place to rest, take a hot bath, and enjoy a home-cooked meal has been a true blessing during one of the hardest seasons of her life.
