Meet Sherry & Steve Moore๐งก๐After nearly 37 years of marriage and a life spent caring for others, Steve and Sherry found themselves on the other side of the story. As a pastor in eastern Arkansas, Steve was used to ministering to others — but everything changed in October 2024 when he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer following a routine colonoscopy.
Their cancer journey included 12 weeks of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation — and with long daily travel ahead, they worried how they'd manage. That’s when they discovered Home for Healing through the amazing team at CARTI.
“It was a life saver,” they said.
The kindness, generosity, and support from staff, other residents, and their community brought light to a hard season. Steve finished treatments in April 2025 and is now preparing for surgery in the coming weeks — hopeful and grateful.
From caregivers to care receivers, the Moores have been deeply moved by the love they've been shown.

This season, I want to take a moment to honor a woman whose legacy continues to inspire all of us at Home for Healing: Robin Dean. Robin was more than a friend to our mission—she was a living example of compassion in action. Her generosity, steady presence, and unwavering belief in helping others shaped countless lives, and her spirit remains deeply rooted in everything we do.
To honor her legacy, we are proud to announce the Robin Dean Memorial Scholarship—a new initiative designed to support the young people who are stepping up to serve through our Diamonds and Studs Teen Program. This scholarship will help outstanding students continue their education while honoring the values Robin held so dear: selflessness, empathy, and service.
Robin believed in people. She had a quiet strength and a warm smile that made everyone feel welcome. Whether she was organizing meals for our guests, encouraging our staff, or showing up when no one else could, Robin never asked for credit. She gave of her time, her heart, and her resources.
Now, through this scholarship, we are extending her legacy to the next generation. We invite donors and community members to help us grow the Robin Dean Scholarship Fund, enabling us to support even more students each year—students who, like Robin, believe in lifting others.
As we continue our daily work of caring for families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, we do so with Robin’s example lighting the way. Her life reminds us that healing happens not just through medicine or shelter, but through kindness, consistency, and love.
To Robin, with endless gratitude—you are deeply missed, deeply honored, and your light continues to shine. If you would like to make a contribution in honor of Robin, you can do so here: Robin Dean Scholarship Fund
With love and purpose,
