Guest Spotlight

Diane cherishes fellowship at church, garage sale adventures, fishing (as long as someone else handles the hook), and meeting new people. Married to Lonnie for 19 years, they share three sons and a love for family life.

Her life changed in June 2017 with a brain tumor diagnosis. The word “cancer” brought fear and uncertainty, but surgery successfully removed the tumor. In 2024, a new spot appeared on her brain, leading to 30 days of chemotherapy starting March 10. Despite the challenges, Diane completed treatment and proudly rang the bell, marking the end of her cancer journey.

She remains deeply grateful—for life, her supportive family and church, and the chance to share her story to help others. Home for Healing has been a peaceful refuge, providing emotional, financial, and practical support. Diane and her family are thankful for this sanctuary and hope it continues offering comfort and hope to others in need.

Diamonds & Studs

Our brand-new teen program, Diamonds & Studs, is off to an incredible start! ๐Ÿ’Žโœจ These bright young leaders kicked off their journey of education and service by attending the ACS Cancer Action Network Lobby Day at the Arkansas State Capitol. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ They had the amazing opportunity to learn firsthand how advocacy works, how laws are made, and how their voices can make a real impact in the fight against cancer. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm, curiosity, and passion for making a difference from day one! ๐Ÿ’™

Words from our Director

I am thrilled to share the tremendous success of our very first Diamonds & Studs event! What began as a vision to engage and empower high school juniors and seniors has already become truly impactful. With 45 students from various local schools participating, our kickoff event was filled with energy, curiosity, and hope for the future.

This program is more than just a leadership initiative—it’s an all-encompassing opportunity to expose young minds to meaningful career paths, life skills, and community service. From the beginning, our goal was to offer students experiences that would build their résumés and shape their futures. That goal is becoming a reality thanks to generous partnerships with local nonprofits, businesses, and medical institutions.

Students will participate in diverse and enriching experiences such as:

  • Interviewing and Résumé Workshops
  • Culinary Medicine Classes
  • Trauma Training and a Simulation Lab Tour at UALR Nursing School
  • Explorations in Professional Career Paths
  • CPR and Narcan Training
  • Financial Literacy Education
  • Tours of CARTI’s Surgical and UAMS/ACH Proton Centers
  • A Cancer Research Symposium

And this is just the beginning.

The Diamonds & Studs program prepares these students for their next steps in life and connects them to the mission of Home for Healing—supporting individuals and families in times of great need. As they volunteer, fundraise, and learn, they become compassionate leaders and advocates in our community.

We’re proud of this first class and deeply grateful to our partners for their support and collaboration. It's inspiring to see what happens when we invest in the next generation with purpose and heart.

With gratitude,
